Description
Key Features:
- Exceeds EPA standards for potable water
- Processes 38 liters (10 Gallons) per minute
- Requires manual filter maintenance
- Has an anticipated 5-7 year life (pending source water turbidity).
Uses
The BB500 functions exceptionally well for schools, clinics, churches, and community centers where people gather daily. It provides a viable business for someone desiring to bottle and sell safe drinking water. The system works well to filter most surface water systems (additional pre-filters may be required).
Water Purification
This filter system utilizes two 0.1 micron hollow-fiber membrane filters which remove all bacteria, protozoa, and cysts to 99.99999% (7 Log) and 99.1% (2 Log) of viruses. This point-of-use, clean water solution has a higher “log” rate than the EPA standard (6 Log) for potable water.
Volume
The BB500 operates whenever water is running through its filters. It has a maximum flow rate of 38 LPM (10 GPM). It can work 24/7. During any given 8-hour period, it can produce 18,000+ liters (4700+ gallons) of clean water. This volume will support a school of 1,000 children with 2 liters of water per day and an additional 3,000 homes with 18 Liters (5 Gallons) per day.
Power
theBB500 requires no electricity.
Usability
Install the mounting plate on any flat surface; connect your incoming, clean and dirty water discharge lines; then filter your water.

Maintenance
Hollow-fiber membrane filters require regular back-flushing to stay in good working order. The BB500 back flushes each filter with clean water from the other filter by reorienting the valve positions. This ensures optimal system performance for years to come and clean, safe drinking water 100% of the time.
The BlackBox Series filter systems do not remove dissolved solids, including chemicals and heavy metals. Therefore, we recommend using inline activated carbon pre-filtration, which significantly reduces the dissolved solids and chemicals, extending the life of the 0.1-micron filter set.
